Baby Quilts

My craft for the day: I wasn't going to post anything today but then I thought, "I DID make something today so why not post it". The Stake is having a Women's conference and they will be tying baby quilts I believe for the DI. They needed volunteers to sew them together. So I didn't chose the fabric or even cut them out all I did was pin them together, sew them, flip them inside out then sew around the edge. Now, I am in the mood to make a baby quilt for someone...I wish it was me that needed one;)

I graduated!

Here is my final cake.

My "diploma" AKA Certificate of Merit
I went to our last class today or course 1 that is. I had the worst time with my roses because my frosting was overly stiff. But over half way through I got the frosting to the right (well good enough to get something done) consistency. I think it's pretty good it would have been way cute if I would have had more time. My favorite part was the leaves the frosting was awesome and they just turned out great. (Thanks Kristin for bringing that kind of frosting. I will have to buy next time!) Anyways, the best part of the class is that Ayden who had separation anxiety and major meltdowns when I started the classes has grown from this probably more than my cake decorating skills. He finally realizes that it's OK for Mommy to leave and I will come back. When I left today he said "Mommy, How long till you get back?, 15 minutes?" I said no 2 hours...as I cringed waiting for the meltdown...But he said, "OK, I love you!" He's growing up... :)... tear.

Martha, are you kidding me?

Nope, Kristin didn't shrink, it's just a huge scrapbook... And HUGE paper!
Tonight, Kristin and I went over to Michael's to use our 50% off coupons. I got a teddy bear cake pan for AJ's birthday and a bunch of stuff from the $ bins...MY FAVE!! Oh AND the best deal that I found was a set of punctuation for the sizzix regular price $79.99 sale price $7.00. SEVEN DOLLARS!?! Can you believe it! Anyways, after hitting up the cake and $ sections we went over to the scrapbook section...Now seriously everyone either LOVES or HATES Martha. I LOVE her! But, I lost some of that love today in the Michael's scrapbooking aisle. These scrapbooks she sells are 18"X18" seriously, who has a shelf that big to store this on? I have a hard enough time storing the 12"X12" books. And the paper is ridiculous! How do you cut it? How do you store the paper? Do they make 18" filing cabinets? How do you fill a paper that size? Do you print all 8"X10" photos to take up tons of space? The whole thing is just crazy! I have to know....Martha, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING???

Anderson is turning one

Anderson's birthday is just sneaking right up on me, YIKES!! I made the invitations to his party at ward scrapbooking night. As usual we had a fabulous turn out, me and mom...it's fun that way we don't have to act all Molly. HAHA Yah right, like I ever act like that. Anyways, I totally stole the idea from SCS (my fave website) and made it my own with a few personal touches.

My First Project

Kristin and I had class tonight 3rd class but only 2nd that we've attended. I was dreading it because I didn't want to have to make the cake and the frosting! This is why I don't go to school anymore because I can;t do the homework! Anyways, we learned how to make flowers, freakish clowns (you know you've had one on one of your birthday cakes in the 80's) faces, a bear face, hearts and some different flowers. I don't know what I was thinking, but I started making the cake at 430 by the time it came out of the oven it was after 530 and I had to let it cool and frost it before 610 so we could get to class by 630pm. So it's not the best smooth frosting ever but I like my flowers. Even the teacher said they were good and I was quick. A little redemption from the last comment she made to me. PS:This cake is SO yummy...French Vanilla Cake with "Banana Cream Pie" Pudding for the filling...Grub!!

My Boys

So, I have been feeling really uncreative lately:( But I was looking on another lady's blog and found a little book like this so I thought I would make one and put the boys' Easter pictures in it. Hopefully, something will inspire me soon and get me back on creative track.

Update on the Pepto Candy

My Mom's made these. What a difference some good paper makes. Mom came over last week to hang out and she wanted to get these candy bars "wrapped" for her co workers. They turned out great!!!

Happy Housewarming!

This weekend has been called the "party weekend." I threw a housewarming/ birthday party for Wes and Kristin. (Kristin's Bday) This was the hardest cake that I have ever made (or atleast it gave me the most problems.) It started out as a 3 layer Strawberrry Shortcake's House cake with a roof. and 1 by 1 I kept ripping things off. I think it turned out pretty cute especially considering that it almost ended up in the trash about 10 times! I hope they enjoyed the party.

I DO CAKES...

Our manual: WOOHOO
Ayden's first cake a 3D train...
We had some issues trying to make RED frosting so baby blue it became

Ayden's 2nd Birthday Cakes Ashten's 1st Bday Pig Cake. So funny!

Ayden's 3rd cake
Ayden's 4th cake...

Yes it was huge! and we had SOOO much leftovers but it was cool.

Ashten's 3rd cake.

This is my favorite so far...

It's official I'm on my way to being a "professional" cake decorator or so says the pimply boy cashier at Michaels. Kristin and I have had our first cake decorating class tonight. I got a little irritated when the instructor asked us, "Does anyone have any cake experience?" I said, "I do my kids' birthday cakes." I know just what she was thinking when she said " Ohhh, you will do SO much more than THAT." Kristin and I got the same picture in our minds: a 9X12 homemade cake with frosting slopped on and some candles stuck in it. SO here are ALL the cakes that I have made for my boys so far, and not one of them is even close to the "picture" she must have had in her mind. But, I can't wait to learn some new tricks for sure! I already learned how to smooth frosting properly, which I have had some problems with before for sure!!
SO I am SUPER excited to "do so much more than that!"

Sorry...I spilled some Pepto Bismol !

I was talking to my mom and she told me about how she wanted to make a paper wrapper for some candy bars to give out at work...she also mentioned a card that I had made in the past (probably posted on here somewhere.) Well I just had to go try it out..this is what happened. Please keep in mind I didn't even start till 11pm and really no one should START crafting at that hour. So I wasn't going to post it out of embarrasment but then I thought Everything I make is not going to be perfect or cute so here it is...It has potential to be something better. I Hope!

5 Everyday things I <3

This is another page for my album. I actually made this awhile back BUT Armand came home so early and we went running around so I doubt that I'll create anything today...Although while I was out I picked up some things to make...I can't wait to play!

O card

I wanted to try out a O die cutter before I sent it off to Megan. (Darn now she'll know I have it so I can't keep playing with it.) HAHA Anyways I didn't have any real brilliant idea of what to do so I just started playing around and this is what came out. I was thinking it would be fun to do a whole ABC flip book (not a scrapbook) with the circle cutter and chipboard and using stamps and/or cricut to do all the animals for each letter...but I was too lazy to cut all the animals. Plus Anderson would just eat it anyways. (You should have cut out extra of all the animals when you did your ABC album, so I could have bought them from you, Megs!!)
